Response to ACGME Proposed Changes Resident Duty Hours
TSDA recently joined seven other cardiothoracic surgery organizations in a response to ACGME proposed changes to its resident duty hour standards. The letter, sent on August 9, 2010, was signed by George L. Hicks, Jr., MD, TSDA President, as well as representatives from The Society of Thoracic Surgeons, American Association for Thoracic Surgery, American Board of Thoracic Surgery, Thoracic Surgery Foundation for Research and Education, Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, Western Thoracic Surgical Association; and the Thoracic Surgery Residents Association. Once finalized, the new resident duty hour standards will go into effect on July 1, 2011. Click here to view the letter.
