TSDA Weekly Curricula

TSDA Weekly Curricula e-mail messages are sent to CT surgery residents, Program Directors, faculty and coordinators, and newly matched residents. Messages are delivered every Thursday for the upcoming week, with the exception of holiday weekends. Weekly assignments are based on an 88-week curriculum and are a supplement to residency curriculum. Assignments include pre-requisite basic readings for newly-matched residents, as well as core curriculum topics with more extensive and in-depth materials for CT surgery residents.

If you are not already receiving the TSDA Weekly Curricula and would like to, please send your name, position, program/hospital/institution, and e-mail address to tsda@tsda.org. Please enter “TSDA Weekly Curricula Request” in the subject line.

New Patch for Windows Vista and Windows 7 Users

Each week, TSDA’s Weekly Curricula newsletter includes links to talks on cardiac and general thoracic topics. TSDA is aware that some subscribers have experienced technical difficulties and are sometimes unable to load the talks. If you have experienced difficulties (either with the slides or the audio) and you use Windows Vista or Windows 7, TSDA suggests you install the following patch to make the files playable on your computer. This patch has been tested by TSDA staff and volunteers, and only takes a few minutes to install. You may also want to check with your institution’s IT administrator regarding special considerations or requirements of your network.

Click the link and follow the directions below:

http://www.voiceage.com/acelp_eval.php

Codec name: Sipro Lab Telecom ACELP.net (130)

1. Click the Download button.

2. Read the terms, and scroll down to the bottom of the screen. Links to three download options will be available.

3. If you use Vista, click the link “Accept and download the version for Widows Vista 32 bit users.” Click this link even if you have a computer with 64 bit.

4. If you use Windows 7, click the link “Accept and download the version for all other Windows users.”

5. Click the Run button to install.

6. Click Yes to “Do you want to install VoiceAge ACELP.net audio codec?”

7. After the patch is installed, click OK to “The ACELP.net audio codec has been installed.”

This patch works only for PC users. Mac users may still experience difficulties loading the talks. TSDA is working to address this issue.

Installation is at the user’s own discretion and TSDA does not take responsibility for third-party applications.
