VIII: ACQUIRED HEART DISEASE
A. Coronary Artery Disease
Clinical Skills:
During the training program the resident:
- Evaluates patients with angina pectoris, unstable angina pectoris, and acute
myocardial infarction;
- Reads and interprets invasive and non-invasive tests of patients with ischemic
heart disease;
- Performs operative and non-operative management of patients with ischemic
heart disease, including coronary artery bypass grafting using the internal mammary
artery;
- Participates in or performs surgery for the complications of myocardial infarction;
- Directs the critical care management of preoperative and postoperative patients
with ischemic heart disease;
- Participates in the performance and evaluation of exercise tolerance tests, echocardiograms,
and cardiac catheterizations.
