As an example of a Marfan patient undergoing a classical Bentall composite graft procedure, we have selected an individual who underwent surgery here at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1989. Since 1992, we have primarily used the modified Bentall procedure with coronary buttons and so to depict the classical Bentall procedure with a nine-year follow-up we present this patient. This is the aortogram of a 25 year old woman with Marfanoid features who, when seen by us, had had mild shortness of mild breath for the previous six months. Interestingly, she was a RN in a coronary care unit in a major university medical center outside of the state of Maryland. She was mildly symptomatic and had this aortogram demonstrating a 7.0 cm diameter aneurysm of the aortic root, minimal aortic insufficiency and moderate mitral insufficiency.
