Topics of Discussion
- Administration of the General Surgery Boards: The possibility of taking the general surgery boards during the last year of general surgery training, instead of the first year of cardiothoracic training, was discussed.
- CTSNet and TSRA Membership: Upon acceptance to a cardiothoracic surgery training program, information regarding membership in CTSNet and the TSRA will be distributed to accepted residents with match notification. Membership information will also be distributed to all current residents via the TSDA program directors.
- Planning of TSRA Meetings: All future TSRA meetings will be planned and announced in concert with official meetings and their publications (e.g., AATS, STS, ACS).
- Meeting Dates: All future TSRA meetings will be held on the Tuesday evening of major cardiothoracic meetings, coinciding with the AATS and STS member receptions.
- Cardiothoracic Resident Roster: A complete list of all cardiothoracic residents (with contact information) will be supplied to the TSRA yearly with the match results.
- Resident Contact Information: The TSDA will provide the TSRA with the email address and other contact information of cardiothoracic residents.
- Elections: Antonio Laudito of Miami, Florida was elected President of the TSRA for 1999-2000. Jorge Salazar of Baltimore, Maryland was elected Secretary of the TSRA for 1999-2000.
- Dr. Replogle's Lecture: Dr. Replogle discussed "Practical Issues in CT Practice."
